Although this blog was created days ago, I chose today to post my first entry. Very appropriate because Kevin and I visited the OB for our 18 week ultrasound yesterday and were told we’re having a baby girl! Surprisingly, this wasn’t a surprise to either of us. It felt more like a confirmation that our educated guesses were right (my late night online research paid off)!
My mom also predicted a girl after seeing this photograph of me at 18 weeks. Apparently fat, wide bellies indicate a girl while narrow pointy bellies mean it’s a boy. Gotta love the Chinese for their wives tales! I feel so blessed to have had a smooth pregnancy so far and that our baby is healthy. Hopefully it will continue on.
This post kicks off what I view as a milestone. We’re no longer simply planning for “a baby”; we’re now planning for our daughter’s arrival (who will soon be named, given Kevin and I can settle on some middle ground). I also feel like it’s a new beginning for me, personally. With little to no experience with children growing up, this is an opportunity for me to take on a major challenge of learning how to be a mom. And a great one, at that. The purpose of this blog is really to keep me on track of this goal and document what Kevin and I learn along the way in parenthood.
Congrats on the little chickadee! You two are going to be great parents; no doubt about it. Kudos to mom for guessing the sex. I think we should start a blog (or category) for just crazy old wives tales. We already have some great fodder.
