Hop Hop Horray!

From the very beginning of this pregnancy, I’ve had a hawk eye on knit baby hats for our little one. It’s an accessory that seems to automatically maximize the cuteness of any child, exponentially. Unfortunately, they’re insanely expensive and Kevin would flip out if I spent $30 on something so frivolous (understandably). Not to be denied though (the baby or myself), I decided to take on the hobby of knitting, so we can all be happy.

My friends Nohreen and Pauline were nice enough to invite me over this weekend for a knitting party. Yes ya’ll… I went from bars to knitting parties. Life is full of surprises 🙂

Having not knitted a thing in my life, I jumped straight into creating a bunny beanie for our daughter – thanks to the teachings of Pauline (you’re amazing, girlfriend)! This is in true Mimi fashion, since I love instant satisfaction and have very little patience. Start off on scarves?? PSHHH… Give me a 3-D challenge to tackle ’cause that’s why I’m here!

Knitting is surprisingly easy once you get into the groove of things. 6 hours of hard work later (with only a few sips of water to keep alive), this masterpiece was produced:


Not bad for a first attempt, although don’t look too closely haha. That evening, my fingers started cramping up and my arms felt like they had a good workout. But it was all worth it 🙂

I swore to Kevin that my next project will be a family hat series, with panda knit caps for papa bear, mama bear and baby bear. His face pruned up at the thought of having to wear a panda cap, so I’ll have to make his manly somehow. Suggestions anyone?
